After months of planning and weeks of anticipation for one of the BFA’s biggest fundraising events of the year, we are delighted with the support the Kingston community showed last night at Tango Nuevo. We are extremely pleased with the success of the auction and not to mention the outstanding tapas that were prepared! We hope that events such as the annual fundraiser continue to foster arts in the Queen’s community and our larger community of Kingston. Many thanks are owed to Tango Nuevo, Tom, the charismatic PolySci student who volunteered to be our MC, to our professor generosity, to Anna Speyer’s and Caitlin Lapeña’s hard work, and last but certainly not least, the generosity and support of the bidders. The success of the auction proves the support of the visual arts! We hope that the results of this years hard work will be seen at our graduating show.
Students for Wishes and Queen’s BFA Graduating class present WHO’S WHO FOR WISHES: A Masquerade Themed dance at Stages Nightclub (393 Princess Street). Come with masks and festive attire and get ready for an unforgettable night! Tickets are $5 and can be purchased today, Friday March 7th, at the ARC between 12-4PM. All proceeds will go toward helping grant the wishes of local Kingston children with life-threatening medical conditions and to help foster arts in the Queen’s community at the annual BFAH graduating thesis show. Join the WHO’S WHO FOR WISHES event page.
Each year Queen’s Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) graduating students host an Art Auction in downtown Kingston to fund their final show. The students along with many of their professors and local artists contribute artwork to this fundraising event. This year’s annual BFA Art Auction will take place at Tango Nuevo on Thursday March 6th at 8pm. This is a highly anticipated event that you do not want to miss! Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 at Tango Nuevo or at the door for $25. Please join the Auction House Event Page.
Many BFA students participating in Where the Line is Drawn have contributed their artwork to the KCFF Silent Auction. This auction raises funds to support the KCFF annual festival and programming. The donated artwork, along with many other items, will be on display outside the Baby Grand Theatre at 218 Princess Street between Friday February 28th and Sunday March 2nd. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the artwork will go towards funding the BFA Final Art Show.
Special thanks to everyone who attended our Where the Line is Drawn Preview Show at the Artel. Here are some photos from the Closing Reception last night. The show continues until February 28th.
